Council Highlights – July 23

  • Council congratulated Richard and Leslie Ann Sharkey on winning the Volunteer of the Year Award. They have done so many amazing things for our community and this award is well deserved! Thank you Richard and Leslie Ann for your dedication and hard work!
  • Community Futures of Yellowhead East presented to Council to inform them that they will be more present in the community and will be looking to provide more for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
  • Council gave third and final reading to Policy PO66-2018 Facade Improvement Grant Program. This program is replacing the Beautification Grant Program that came to light in 2017 and is to help stimulate the private sector investment for the revitalization of existing commercial and mixed-use buildings in the Downtown Revitalization Area.
  • Council gave third and final reading to Bylaw 811-2018 Land Use Bylaw Amendment. This bylaw is for the rezoning of Plan 002-4920, Block 36, Lot 26 from Industrial Commercial – M1 to Highway Commercial – C3. This is a vacant Highway Frontage parcel.
  • Council has allocated $58,000 from the Council Funds to Groups for the Fox Creek Chamber of Commerce to assist in growing a strong Chambers. This funding is for a period of one year.
  • Council has allocated $20,000 to the Fox Creek Chamber to assist in rendering Tourism Services on behalf of the town.
  • Council wishes to congratulate the Fox Creek Minor Ball Association for a fantastic PeeWee ‘A’ Provincials Tournament on July 20-22. Great work putting together a fun weekend for the kids and their families. The rain did not slow any of you down. Great Work!
