Council Highlights – June 25

  • Council gave recognition to the past Council for all the work they put in during their 4 year term.
  • Council gave first reading to Bylaw 811-2018 Amendment to Land Use Bylaw 778-2016. The Bylaw is to rezone an unused parcel of land near the Highway. There will be a public hearing on July 23, prior to giving second and third readings.
  • Council has awarded Michelle’s Nursery the bid for the Highway Avenue beautification.
  • Council has directed Administration to enter into a Service Agreement with Wood Environment & Infrastructure until December 31, 2019 for the Town’s Engineering Services.
  • Council has proclaimed July 15-21, National Drowning Awareness Day.
  • The next Council Meeting will be held on July 23; the July 9 meeting has been cancelled.
  • Administration presented the proposed Street Renaming Memorandum to Council. This project will improve emergency services ability to locate streets and homes. Watch for an Open House this fall.
  • Council received a visit from the Minister of Energy Margaret McCuaig-Boyd. The Minister was taken on a tour of the Town to show her our new facilities.
