Council Highlights – October 22, 2018

  • Council held the Annual Organizational Meeting with the following resolutions:
    • Council moved to hold the Regular Meetings of Council on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month in Council Chambers starting at 6:30 pm.
    • Committee of the Whole meetings will be held on an as-needed basis.
    • Council appointed members to serve on the Boards and Committees for the 2018/2019 year.
    • Administration will be advertising for Members at Large for committees with vacancies. Watch for information on becoming a member.
  • Council passed Bylaw 814-2018 Smoke Free Public Places. This bylaw outlines the locations where cannabis and or tobacco products can and cannot be consumed. It states that cannabis and or tobacco products may not be consumed in a manner or proximity that is adversely affecting another person.
  • Council passed Bylaw 815-2018 Land Use Bylaw Amendments for Bylaw 811-2018. This bylaw was to amend clerical errors within Bylaw 811-2018. This bylaw includes information on rezoning of land as well as where Cannabis retail, production and distribution stores can and cannot be located within town.
  • Council passed Bylaw 816-2018 To Regulate the Proceedings of Council. This Bylaw replaces Bylaw 744-2014. The amendments include updates to the changes to the Municipal Government Act, as well as adjustments to Council agenda orders.
  • Council has directed Administration to increase the Multiplex Sponsorship opportunities of the Zamboni and the Mini Rink.
