The Fox Creek Chamber of Commerce reported to Council on September 23 that membership has increased this year. With the addition of 9 new members so far in 2019 membership now sits at 65, and it further projected to hit 70 members by the end of the year.
A delegation from the Town of Fox Creek, consisting of the Mayor, 4 Councillors, and the CAO will be attending this year’s AUMA convention. Along with the daily sessions, Council has arranged meetings with the Ministers of Transportation, Children’s Services, and Economic Development. Discussion topics will include positive highlights of development in Fox Creek, the future potential of the town, and the intersection at Kaybob Drive and Highway 43.
Council has approved to provide sponsorship opportunities to local businesses by providing advertising spaces at the Pembina Arena and at the Main Ball Diamond. All advertisements are a 5-year commitment and range between $800-$1,500 per year depending on placement and quantity. Businesses will also have an option to donate labour, material, or equipment in place of the annual $1,000 fee for a Ball Diamond advertisement.
Council has also approved the purchase of a new snow blower. The previous snow blower yearly maintenance was costing between $2,500 and $5,000 per year and because of its older age was difficult to obtain parts for causing lags in the snow removal process. With the new snow blower, the Town expects to save on annual maintenance/repair costs and speed up the snow removal process.
Town Administration has been directed by Council to move forward with the purchase of north lands from the Government of Alberta for $1,351,400.00. PLS 130108 Public Land: Plan 1922148, Blocks 2 and 3, Lot 1 will be used for industrial development.
