TOWN OF FOX CREEK CELEBRATES MÉTIS WEEK WITH FLAG RAISING CEREMONY
Fox Creek, Alberta – November 12, 2024 – Fox Creek proudly commemorated Métis Week with a meaningful flag-raising ceremony, honoring the vibrant heritage and cultural contributions of the Métis people. This important event serves as a reminder of the rich Indigenous culture we are part of and our continued commitment to recognizing and celebrating our shared history.
Grant Lacombe, Provincial Secretary of Harvesting & Culture and Lesser Slave Lake Métis District Citizens Representative, participated in the ceremony, adding a heartfelt and significant presence. His involvement highlighted the deep-rooted traditions and ongoing efforts to preserve Métis culture.
Councillor Kerri Hudson represented the Town of Fox Creek, expressing her sincere gratitude to the Métis people. Her words reflected our community’s appreciation and recognition of the essential role that the Métis play in the cultural fabric of our region.
As we celebrate Métis Week, we reaffirm our dedication to acknowledging and embracing the diverse Indigenous cultures that shape our community. The flag raising stands as a symbol of respect, unity, and a shared future that values the heritage of the Métis and all Indigenous peoples.
