Early in June, the Town of Fox Creek accepted the resignation of long-time volunteer firefighter and Fire Chief, Les Paul.
Chief Paul has been an active member of the Fox Creek Volunteer Fire Department for many years, moving through the ranks to finally becoming Fire Chief in July of 2009. However, his impact in Fox Creek expands further than that of the Fire Department. As many will know, he has been a key member of our community for decades, having gone to Fox Creek School (Class of ’83), raised his children with his wife Cheryl, worked in the community, DJ’d for many events, and of course volunteered. He has proven himself an upstanding citizen that we should all feel encouraged to strive to be. Though it is sad to lose this family to another town, we sincerely wish Chief Paul and his wife Cheryl the best in whatever the future has to offer them and wish them to know that their presence will be missed in Fox Creek.
Council would also like to announce that Captain Shawn Watson of the Fox Creek Volunteer Fire Department has been appointed to the position of Fire Chief beginning July 1, 2021. Chief Watson brings a great deal of experience and aptitude to the position having been a volunteer with the Fire Department for the past 16 years. He has also served as Councillor with the Town of Fox Creek for the past 3+ years, however Chief Watson has made the decision to step down from his role on Council to accept this position. It is important to note though, that with the municipal election just around the corner, a by-election to fill the vacancy is not required.
We ask that the community join us in saying farewell and good luck to our fellow community members, Les and Cheryl; as well as welcome and congratulate Chief Watson on his promotion.
