TOWN OF FOX CREEK SUSPENDS RURAL RENEWAL STREAM PROGRAM CONSIDERING EVOLVING IMMIGRATION POLICIES AND RESOURCE LIMITATIONS

Fox Creek, Alberta – November 4, 2024 – The Town of Fox Creek announces the suspension of its Rural Renewal Stream program until further notice. This decision reflects the town’s response to recent federal immigration policy changes and an internal evaluation of program resources and processes.

The Rural Renewal Stream program, developed to welcome and integrate new residents into Fox Creek, is being paused due to the following considerations:

1. Federal Immigration Policy Adjustments: The federal government has signaled intentions to reduce the number of immigrants entering Canada over the coming years, which may impact the availability of qualified applicants for rural-focused programs such as Rural Renewal Stream.

2. Approval Process Improvements: The Town of Fox Creek is committed to ensuring that any future program iterations are efficient and supportive of applicants. To achieve this, the Town is reviewing and enhancing the program’s approval process to better serve potential new residents.

3. Resource Allocation: Due to limited resources, the Town is prioritizing essential community initiatives to best meet the current needs of residents. As part of this reallocation, we are pausing the Rural Renewal Stream program to focus on other key areas.

The Town of Fox Creek will continue to assess national immigration trends and our local resources to determine when the Rural Renewal Stream may resume in the future. We remain committed to welcoming newcomers and supporting an inclusive community for all.
