How can we help?

Council Highlights: April 14, 2020

On behalf of the Director of Operations, Chief Administrative Officer reported to Council that snow clearing will be completed this week for the area where the skatepark will be going. The snow removal is in preparation of next weeks arrival of the company putting in the skatepark.

Council got a taste of some of the improvements that have been made to the Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex while it has been closed to the public, including new paint in the common areas and accent walls throughout. The Chief Administrative Officer also mentioned that the new interior signage previously ordered will be installed over the next few weeks.

Also announced, is the hiring of Brandon Pauling as the new Director of Recreation. The Town looks forward to the new addition to the team and what all he has to offer the community. He is slotted to begin work at the beginning of May.

Council has motioned to extend the Property Tax due date from its original June 30th date to September 30th, 2020. The extension will hopefully provide some financial relief to the businesses and residents of the community by way of cashflow flexibility during this trying time. People can expect the notices to still go out on their normal schedule and should keep in mind that penalties will be applied to outstanding balances beginning October 1st, 2020.

With Administration having requested the public refrain from attending Council meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic, the community can now look forward to a live broadcasting of future Council meetings, beginning with the May 4th Regular Meeting. People will have the option of finding the links to the video meeting on our website, social media, or requesting a link be sent directly to you email by emailing ea@foxcreek.ca. Administration requests that people have patience with us while we iron out any wrinkles that may arise.

Council has directed Administration to move forward with a Request for Proposal for the repaving of Kaybob Drive. Repaving would consist of the length of road between the Petro Canada and 8 Street by the School. However, Administration will be requesting additional quotes to include further past 8 Street, an area by the Multiplex for a courtyard, and the 22-lot subdivision.
