The Director of Community Services reported to Council that staff has been busy working on the Expression of Interest for Children’s Services. The Expression of Interest is the proposal to provide services similar to what the Parent Link Centre and Early Intervention programs have been offering but will soon not be because of cuts to funding.

The Director of Community Services also briefly spoke about a pilot project the Community Resource Centre is looking into. The project is still in the early stages of planning but will work similarly to that of Meals on Wheels.

The Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex will be celebrating Women’s Health Day on January 11, 2020. This all-day event will offer various fitness classes, presentations, lunch, and supper, all in support of women’s health. Tickets for the event are now on sale.

Council held the first reading of Bylaw 829-2019: Removal of the Reserve Designation on the Curling Rink Lot and has motioned a public hearing be held on January 20, 2020 to discuss it further. The removal of the reserve designation will allow the Town to register a subdivision for the lot so that the land can be transferred to the Fox Creek Curling Club.

Council has directed Administration to send a letter of support to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry for the Alberta Rapattack Wildland Firefighter Program. The program consists of groups of first responders dedicated to stopping wildfires in the province, however in November 2019 the program was cut.
