FEBRUARY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

The Director of Recreation reported a successful Family Day. The event was well attended with Fieldhouse fun seeing 74 attendees of all ages; 54 people had fun at Family Swim and 13 at Family Skate. Also reported was the success of the February 18 Dive-in Movie which saw a total of 61 people, while the Nerf War held the same day report 29 people in attendance.

Families will be happy to hear that the Multiplex’s Childmind program has restarted. Those interested in utilizing this service can get more information by calling the Multiplex at 780-622-2511.

The Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex is currently running such programs as Mini Movers, Ninja Warriors, and recently held a Kid’s Night Out program. People can look forward to more fun programs to come over the next few months, including:

  • Wee Sport Wednesdays
  • Musical Mania
  • Rhythm Kids
  • Big Chef, Little Chef
  • Rooks to Cooks
  • And more!

The Chief Administrative Officer had several items to report to Council including that the annexation process for the North Road land is ongoing and That preparations have started for Phase 3 of the Water Treatment Plant.

Following the evening’s Public Hearing, Land Use Bylaw Amendment 824-2019-A04 was given 3rd reading to rezone 11-1 Avenue from Neighbourhood Convenience Commercial District C1 to General Commercial District C2. This amendment will allow a wider variety of permitted uses for the property.
