A delegation from the Greater Metro Hockey Jr. A Hockey League (GMHL) presented to Council their plans for establishing a Fox Creek team. This would mean that players between the ages of 16-21, from around the world, would work full time to improve their hockey, academic, and life skills in our community during hockey season. The program operates under a development model, ensuring that players academic and community leadership goals are reached. To date the GMHL has graduated 900 players on to collegiate and professional hockey. This opportunity will not only be an additional source of entertainment, residents of Fox Creek can expect to see these students to take on a key role in our community as volunteers, and as mentors to younger players. Look for more details to come but in the meantime, people can check out GMHL.net for more information on the program.

Council was advised that construction on the new Municipal Library location in the Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex will begin March 4, with an estimated completion date of mid-April. Residents can expect the Library to be fully moved into its new location this summer prior to the new school year starting.

A signed agreement and cheque were sent to the province for the North Road Lands. All requirements had been met and now Administration is just waiting on the title to transfer to the Town of Fox Creek, which should happen in about a month.

Council has directed Administration to organize an open house for the various community groups to discuss with Council their on-going projects. The purpose is to ensure Council remains in touch with what is going on in the community and to learn what more about the groups Fox Creek has to offer. This open house will also be good for the groups to learn more about the Grants to Groups program and how they can take advantage of it, if they are not currently.
