On February 13, the province officially recognized the Town of Fox Creek as a designated community under the Rural Renewal Stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
This Alberta initiative aims to address current labour needs and skill shortages in rural areas, particularly in the hospitality industry and skilled trades. The community-driven approach benefits the local economy and contributes to the growth of the community by involving multiple local agencies to ensure that supports are in place for newcomers.
Now that the Town of Fox Creek has received its designation, we will begin to work with employers to attract, recruit and retain newcomers to Fox Creek. With the guidance of the Rural Renewal Stream, Fox Creek Economic Development will assist by evaluating and endorsing employers, reviewing job seekers’ applications and helping to fast-track immigration for eligible candidates.
“We are very excited to have achieved our designation through the Rural Renewal Stream,” stated Mayor Gilmour. “This resource will assist local employers in bringing skilled labour to our community; it will help the Fox Creek economy and is another step toward showcasing what Fox Creek has to offer.”
The Town is in the very early stages of setting up this program. Please be patient as we finalize details and coordinate the logistics. Soon, a guide for employers and job seekers interested in navigating the process will be available on our website.
In the meantime, if you are an employer located within the Town of Fox Creek and are interested in participating in the Rural Renewal Stream, please contact the Town Administration Office and visit the Alberta Rural Renewal Stream.
